Daniel Pine is a character that appears in From the World of John Wick: Ballerina.
Biography
Background
Daniel was born in Austria, in the city of Hallstatt, the headquarters of a sect of assassins known as The Cult. He was born as the son of the sect's leader, The Chancellor, and he began to raise Daniel to become an assassin and one day inherit the leadership of the sect.
It is unknown when or how, but at some point in his life, Daniel learned of the Ruska Roma and its traditions, especially the mythological being known as the Kikimora.
Daniel married and had a daughter, Ella; his wife apparently died at some unspecified time. Following the traditions of the Cult, Ella must be raised to become an assassin and the future leader of Hallstatt, but Daniel decided he didn't want that fate for his daughter, so he ran away with her.
In response, his father put a price on his head to kill him and get Ella back.
From the World of John Wick: Ballerina
Hunting for the men who had murdered her father, Eve Macarro tracked down Daniel with the help of Winston Scott at the Prague Continental where he was hiding out.
Eve snuck into Daniel's room where she found Ella and was confronted at gunpoint by Daniel. Upon learning her reasons for seeking him out, Daniel warned Eve that she had made things a hell of a lot worse as Lena doubled the bounty on Daniel to get assassins to be willing to break the Continental's rules and kill him. As assassins assaulted Daniel's room, he fought his way out with the help of Eve, killing several. Daniel convinced Eve to help him get Ella to safety so that his daughter could have a better life, promising Eve the answers that she sought in exchange. However, Daniel was ambushed and severely wounded by Dex outside while Lena subdued Eve and kidnapped Ella. The surviving assassins were executed by Continental Security for conducting business on hotel grounds while Eve, who had not killed anyone, was spared. Despite killing several people on Continental grounds, Daniel was allowed to stay in the hotel to recover from his injuries, evidentially pardoned as Daniel had only been acting in self-defense.
Ella was later rescued by Eve with the help of John Wick and she killed the Chancellor. Eve reunited the recovering Daniel with his daughter at the Continental.
