Jimmy is a deputy of the Bergen County Sheriff's Office who was a friend to ex-hitman John Wick. He investigated a noise disturbance at John's house, but knew not to get involved, as it would only cause him trouble.

James is a deputy of the Bergen County Sheriff's Office After John killed several Tarasov thugs inside of his house, Jimmy came over to see what was happening because the neighbors called the police regarding a noise complaint and was met with numerous corpses in John's house. After a brief conversation, Jimmy left John in peace, knowing it would not be smart to get involved.

John Wick: Chapter 2

Several days later, after Santino D'Antonio destroyed John's house, Jimmy was there yet again and asked if John was "working again". After John left, Jimmy realized John didn't deny it like last time, but avoided the question, realizing John was indeed "working again" and things were about to get messier.
